We are seeking a After Hours Co-ordinator to work in a part time (48 hours/fortnight) capacity based at Nhill.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- The position is located within Clinical services and provides support to the Nursing Executive, Managers, and staff at West Wimmera Health Service (WWHS).
- The role liaises across all disciplines and areas of each site, and operates within the existing Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Clinical Governance, and Human Resource frameworks.
- The After Hours Co-ordinator is the senior nurse leader after hours and the senior resource for escalation of matters that may impact clinical care, and has primary responsibility for site specific emergency response, after hours.
- The position supports the delivery of evidence based clinical care and quality patient outcomes by promoting professional nursing standards that align with WWHS policy and procedure.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential :
- Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of professional groups.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to quality, best practice, and environmental safety.
- A minimum of five (5) year's clinical experience and two (2) years management experience with leadership ability.
- Have knowledge and understanding of the Nurses Enterprise Bargaining agreement and relevant legislation.
Desirable :
- Sound understanding of information technology and the operating systems utilised at WWHS. (EMPREVO, BOSSnet, iPM, Clinical Manager).
- Post Graduate studies in Management and or Critical Care.
- RIPRN qualification (or willing to obtain).
- Previous experience in a similar role.
PRE-REQUISITES:
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Working with Children Check.
- Fully vaccinated as per current Department of Health Directives.
- Australian Driver’s Licence.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES:
- Provide leadership, mentorship and guidance to WWHS staff.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, residents, visitors and staff.
- Lead and manage allocated portfolios, including rostering and quality.
- Act as the after-hours contact for internal and external emergency responses.
- Act as Hospital Commander after hours until the on-call Executive Director arrives.
- Communicate effectively across all areas and build strong internal and
external relationships.
- Manage risks and critical incidents within the Riskman framework.
- Support staff to investigate incidents, take appropriate action, notify relevant personnel, and complete documentation.
- Support occupational health and safety and workplace safety standards.
- Participate in committees, portfolios and projects, including meetings and required reports.
- Work with site nurses in charge to manage staff replacement. Inform the Director of Nursing or delegate as appropriate.
