MEGA Education is an ELICOS College and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) located in Sydney’s CBD. We deliver high-quality ELICOS programs to international students, including our High School Preparation (HSP) Program.
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced High School Preparation Teacher to join our team on a fixed-term basis from 14 September to 30 October 2026, covering a teacher who will be on leave.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching High School English to international students, particularly students under 18, and will be confident working with classes of mixed English language ability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, engaging face-to-face lessons focusing on all English language skills and incorporating key Australian high school subject areas.
- Support students in developing the English language and academic literacy skills required for successful transition into Australian high schools.
- Differentiate and scaffold lessons to meet the needs of students with varying levels of English language proficiency.
- Develop, adapt and implement appropriate teaching and learning resources.
- Engage and motivate international students in a supportive classroom environment.
- Build positive relationships with students and provide appropriate academic and welfare support.
- Assess students’ English language development and provide regular, constructive feedback.
- Conduct formal English language assessments as required.
- Maintain appropriate student progress, attendance and assessment records.
- Work collaboratively with the Academic Manager and other teaching staff.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Academic Manager.
Required Skills and Experience
Applicants must have:
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Experience teaching ELICOS and/or English to international students.
- Experience teaching students under 18 years of age, ideally in a High School, High School Preparation or secondary education setting.
- The ability to teach and support students with mixed levels of English language proficiency.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to differentiate learning and respond to individual student needs.
- Strong skills in supporting and mentoring young international students.
- Confidence using technology in classroom teaching.
- Excellent organisational, administrative and computer skills.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to complete required administrative duties.
- Flexibility and the ability to respond effectively to unexpected issues and differing student needs.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold:
- A relevant degree or diploma; and
- A recognised TESOL qualification of at least Certificate IV level, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
Relevant experience teaching High School English, EAL/EALD, High School Preparation or secondary-aged international students will be highly regarded.
Contract Period
14 September 2026 to 30 October 2026
This is a temporary leave-cover position, and applicants should ideally be available for the full contract period.
