THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director Strategic Communications and Digital Creative, the Head of Marketing, Brand and Insights leads a team to deliver the strategic planning, delivery and oversight of integrated advertising campaigns that support government and department and agency priority initiatives. You lead a multidisciplinary team spanning campaigns, brand and graphic design, and are accountable for the quality, consistency and effectiveness of the department's overall brand, campaign and creative output, and for the research and evaluation evidence base that underpins it.
You are also responsible for keeping the team on top of emerging marketing technology and channels, shifts in audience behaviour and segmentation, and broader marketplace trends, ensuring the department's campaigns and creative approach stay contemporary and competitive.
You directly manage a team of three: one Campaign Advisor (VPS4) and two Graphic Designers (VPS5), who provide design and brand support as required across all DFFH internal and external channels. You lead the brand development for the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
You will work closely with the Strategic Communications and Digital Creative teams and central agencies and play a lead coordination role for all advertising for the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
The Head of Marketing, Brand and Insights takes a department-wide and sector view of issues and opportunities and supports agencies and divisions to produce innovative and effective campaigns ensuring compliance.
You will work closely with other Heads of areas and Directors to deliver best practise campaigns and fit-for-purpose guidelines and frameworks and build capability and capacity in the teams. You will lead the research and evaluation function for the team, embedding consistent measurement frameworks, commissioning and interpreting research to inform campaign strategy, and building research and evaluation capability across the team.
You will play an instrumental role in developing the overarching advertising strategic approach and support and lead staff through change.
You will play a lead role in building relationships with Ministerial offices, business and program areas, key external stakeholders and across the central Public Engagement branch.
You will undertake regular measurement and evaluation of advertising efforts and team performance, working with the other members of the broader Branch leadership team to ensure consistency in evaluation approaches and reporting mechanisms.
You will work as part of the Public Engagement Branch's leadership team to make branch-wide process improvements and share best practice and collaborate with the department's Executive Board and other senior staff, the Minister's office, business areas and key external stakeholders to ensure that communication is clear, engaging, and is aligned with the department's strategic plan.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Develop and oversee and implement contemporary and integrated advertising campaigns that leverage the full functional capability of the Public Engagement Branch and align to ministerial requirements and the department's strategy.
- Advise and guide agency advertising campaigns and partner with the sector.
- Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with Ministerial Office staff and senior internal and external stakeholders across the relevant portfolios.
