About the role
As Events Producer, you will contribute to the successful delivery of Council-run events and stakeholder-managed events in the public domain, acting as a key custodian of Council’s outdoor event portfolio in public open spaces. You will coordinate the planning, production and delivery of outdoor events and activations from concept through to hands on completion, ensuring they are professionally delivered, safe, accessible and aligned with Council’s policies, guidelines and strategic priorities.
You will work collaboratively with internal teams, community groups, event organisers, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality outdoor events and activations across Waverley.
Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating and delivering a diverse portfolio of end-to-end Council outdoor events and activations.
- Providing professional advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on event planning and delivery in the Waverley public domain.
- Acting as a custodian of Council’s outdoor event portfolio and ensuring events are delivered in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and legislative requirements.
- Managing end to end outdoor event planning, production, logistics, risk, safety, approvals, contractors and suppliers, including on busy and complex event sites.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful event outcomes.
- Supporting the delivery of safe, inclusive and accessible community experiences.
- Coordinating with relevant Council teams to manage competing priorities and ensure seamless event delivery.
- Identifying opportunities to improve event delivery, community engagement and the activation of Waverley’s public spaces.
- Supporting the assessment and management of externally delivered events and activation activities in accordance with Council requirements.
About you
-
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in managing and overseeing the planning, production and delivery of high impact outdoor events involving complex infrastructure in high density, high profile public open space environments.

Minimum 3 years comprehensive events management experience ideally in a local government or community context.

Experience in risk management, traffic management, pedestrian management and site management for major and significant events, including current events-related legislation.

Good working knowledge of current event marketing and promotional strategies.

Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment assisting in the delivery of an annual program of events.

A positive, professional and cooperative approach to working collaboratively with others including in a team environment and with external partners in negotiating outcomes on behalf of Council.

Ability to lead others on events ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including in high level report and policy and procedure writing.

Strong computer literacy and administration skills across multiple software platforms including finance, procurement, risk & safety systems, and ideally experience in Auto CAD or Vectorworks.

Experience in assessment and best practice management of power requirements for events.

Ability and willingness to regularly work after hours on weekends and on site by negotiation.

Understanding of event related legislation and ability to assess and minimise event impact and risk.

Exceptional time management & co-ordination skills.

Adaptable and solutions focussed approach to problem solving.

Ability to identify opportunities for service improvement through robust event evaluation processes.

Class C Drivers Licence.

Forklift Licence.

Understanding of and commitment to EEO.
