Hikari Ramen is hiring a dedicated Cook to join our kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing authentic Japanese dishes
A Japanese restaurant cook's job involves mastering specific culinary techniques and maintaining high kitchen standards. There are varying responsibilities and requirements for experienced cook to take.
Core Responsibilities
-Food Preparation: Prepare a variety of dishes, including preparing ingredients, cooking proteins and vegetables, making sauces and broths, and ensuring all components are cooked to the correct texture, flavour, and presentation standards
-Consistency & Quality: Cook all dishes according to standard recipes and restaurant procedures and use appropriate equipment in accordance with standard procedures to ensure flavor and quality, maintaining strict portion control
-Kitchen Operations: Keep your station clean, organized, and well-stocked; strictly follow food safety and sanitation guidelines; assist with inventory and inspect deliveries
-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team for smooth service, and sometimes coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure a good experience for customers
-Menu Development: Plan specials, experiment with new ramen varieties, and stay current with industry trends
-Kitchen Management: Oversee daily operations, manage food and labor costs, order supplies, and minimize waste
-Team Leadership: Supervise, direct, and help train other kitchen staff
-Key Skills: Strong knife skills, knowledge of Japanese ingredients, ability to work efficiently under pressure, and keen attention to detail
-Work Ethic: Must be a strong team player with good communication, physically fit to stand for long hours, and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays .
-Certifications: A food safety certification is often an advantage . A culinary degree may be preferred for senior roles
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $78,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
