Disability Support Worker – Handyman & Outdoor Maintenance

Prime Rehab is seeking a reliable, practical and motivated Disability Support Worker to support a man in his 60s living with Parkinson’s disease in Mill Park.
This is an ongoing casual position for one 5-hour shift per week on either Tuesday or Thursday, with some flexibility around the day.
The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys gardening, handyman tasks, outdoor maintenance and practical work, while also providing friendly support and encouraging the participant's independence.
About the Role
You will provide practical assistance with maintaining the participant's home, garden and outdoor areas.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning gutters
- Gardening and general outdoor maintenance
- Cleaning and organising an outdoor workspace and shed
- Painting and minor maintenance tasks
- General cleaning and tidying of outdoor areas
- Moving, organising and storing items
- Other practical household or maintenance tasks as required
The participant will remain involved in tasks wherever possible, with the support worker assisting him to participate safely and maintain his independence.
About You
You are:
- Reliable, practical and hands-on
- Comfortable working independently
- Physically capable of completing gardening and handyman tasks
- Able to use initiative and work safely
- Friendly, patient and respectful
- Comfortable supporting someone living with a neurological disability
- Someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in completing jobs to a high standard
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Working rights in Australia
- Ability to safely undertake gardening and basic handyman tasks
Desirable
- Experience in gardening, property maintenance, handyman work or similar
- Experience supporting people with disability, neurological conditions or aged care
- Relevant trade, maintenance, gardening or landscaping experience
