We are looking for a friendly, efficient, warm, patient and passionate person to join our nursing/administration team. Please note this position is casual 2-3 shifts a week, as well as covering for sick and annual leave. This job is is initially as a medical receptionist on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm) with a view to nursing on weekends or to cover absences.
Duties for medical reception include but are not restricted to the following:
- Welcoming visitors to the practice and assisting them whilst ensuring they receive a high level of service
- Answering incoming calls in a professional, pleasant and timely manner
- Managing front of house operations
- Managing all incoming and outgoing mail
- Responding to/actioning emails
- Manage the Doctors‘ appointment schedule
- Enter data into the Practice Management Software
- Manage billings of appointments
- Light cleaning duties
The EN is also responsible and accountable for the provision of quality nursing care to the patients in their care, placing emphasis on the medical, psychological, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients. Supported by a team of clinicians, they will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring long term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. They will work collaboratively with the clinical team to meet the needs of patients.
Perform clinical duties within required level of clinical competency, according to best available evidence. Explain procedures to patients, providing them with support and reassurance. Duties include triage, immunisations and other injections; wound management, chronic disease management, ECG’s and collection of pathology samples. Assist doctors with clinical procedures. Maintain clinical documentation.
Assist with triage, data management, diagnostic services, networking with other providers, planning & management of patient care and patient advocacy. Telephone patients with test results as directed by medical staff. Ensure sterilization and maintenance of clinical equipment. Maintain stocks of clinical supplies, including correct storage (such as refrigeration), removal of out-of-date stock and ordering supplies. Provide input in purchasing relevant clinical equipment and supplies.
What we're looking for
- Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Demonstrated experience in a similar nursing role preferred but not essential
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care
