We are seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our clinical team on a full-time basis.
Position Overview
The Experienced Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the clinical team by providing high-quality chairside assistance, contributing to efficient practice operations, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience.
You will work closely with dentists and the wider clinical team to support safe, effective, and patient-centred care across all stages of treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Provide chairside assistance across a variety of dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials
- Maintain infection control and sterilisation standards in line with Australian guidelines
- Support patient safety, comfort, and wellbeing throughout treatment
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and workplace procedures
Patient Care
- Deliver exceptional customer service and patient support
- Assist with treatment explanations and post-operative instructions under clinician direction
- Build strong patient relationships through clear communication and empathy
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
Administration & Practice Operations
- Assist with reception duties, appointment scheduling, and billing as required
- Update patient records and treatment information accurately
- Manage clinical stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
- Use dental practice management software efficiently and accurately
Team Contribution
- Support and mentor junior Dental Assistants where appropriate
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
- Collaborate effectively with dentists, oral health therapists, hygienists, and administrative staff
- Contribute to continuous improvement and efficient practice operations
Skills & Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant
- Strong chairside assisting skills across a range of procedures
- Sound understanding of infection prevention and sterilisation protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Experience using dental practice management software
- Positive, patient-focused attitude and strong work ethic
Qualifications
Applicants must hold:
- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Dental Assisting, or equivalent relevant experience
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience within a dental setting
