Senior Speech Pathologist / Team Leader — Community | Sydney Hills District | 12-Month Parental Leave Cover
We're partnering with a well-regarded allied health provider in Sydney's Hills District to appoint a Senior Speech Pathologist / Team Leader on a 12-month parental leave contract.
This is a genuine step up for a mid-to-senior speech pathologist with community experience who's ready to lead a team without committing to a permanent role — or for a current Team Leader looking for a change of scene with a defined 12-month runway.
You'll take over an established, well-functioning team and a warm handover from the outgoing Team Leader, so you're set up to hit the ground running rather than building from scratch.
About the role
Leading a small team of community speech pathologists delivering in-home, in-school and on-site therapy across the Hills District and surrounding suburbs. You'll split your time between clinical work and team leadership — the balance is flexible depending on your strengths and the team's needs during the contract.
Typical caseload spans paediatric and adult community work — early intervention, school-age language and literacy, AAC, feeding, adult neurogenic communication and swallowing, and NDIS participants across the lifespan.
Your remit will cover:
-
Day-to-day leadership, support and mentoring of the community speech pathology team
-
Clinical supervision and case discussions
-
Managing team caseload allocation, scheduling and workflow
-
Onboarding and inducting any new team members during the contract
-
Maintaining clinical standards, documentation quality and NDIS compliance
-
Liaising with referrers, GPs, schools, aged care facilities and NDIS support coordinators
-
A clinical caseload of your own (proportion negotiable)
-
Reporting to and working closely with the practice owners
About you
-
SPA-eligible / Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with a minimum of 4–5 years' post-graduate experience (more welcome)
-
Prior community or mobile speech pathology experience is essential
-
Previous team leadership, senior clinician or clinical supervisor experience preferred — or a strong senior clinician ready to step up
-
Confident across a mixed caseload (paediatric and/or adult, depending on your strengths)
-
Sound understanding of NDIS frameworks and documentation requirements
-
Excellent communication and mentoring skills — you genuinely enjoy developing others
-
Organised, calm under pressure, and able to keep a team running smoothly
-
Current Australian driver's licence and reliable vehicle
-
NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
-
Australian working rights
What's on offer
-
Competitive salary package commensurate with experience, plus vehicle/travel allowance
-
12-month fixed-term contract — a defined runway to gain leadership experience or take a considered career break from permanent commitment
-
Established, supportive team with warm handover from the outgoing Team Leader
-
Direct access to practice owners for support and clinical discussion
-
Genuine autonomy to lead the team in your own style
-
Professional development support during the contract
-
Flexibility around start date and working arrangement
-
Well-serviced patch — the Hills District is a beautiful part of Sydney to spend your working days in
