About the role
An exciting opportunity exists in our busy Melbourne office for a part-time Legal Secretary to join our Corporate and Commercial team. This role will see you supporting a team of lawyers alongside the team's existing secretaries.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal support professional seeking a flexible part-time position within a collaborative and high-performing team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be varied and will include:
- Opening of new matters and closing and archiving of completed matters
- Conducting conflict searches
- Diary management and coordination of meetings and travel arrangements
- Preparation of expenses
- Telephone calls with clients and third parties
- Drafting and amending correspondence and documents
- Electronic and hard copy filing
- Monthly billing, including invoicing and preparation of bills. Previous experience with Aderant / Expert Billing will be highly regarded
Providing general support to members of the team in the performance of their work in corporate and commercial transactions

The team advises Australian and international clients across a range of industry sectors, including technology, energy and resources, financial and corporate advisory services, medical and biotech, retail and e-commerce, and provides advice on:
- Mergers and acquisitions, business sales and purchases, restructuring, and business succession
- Equity and debt capital raisings for publicly listed and private companies
- Corporate governance and advisory
- Commercial contracts
- Business structuring
- Regulatory compliance and risk management
- Finance and securities
- Competition and consumer law, including advising on consumer protection, anti-competitive prohibitions, exemptions and authorisation applications

About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organised and detail-oriented Legal Secretary or Administrative Assistant who enjoys taking initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Your dedication to providing exceptional client service, together with your enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to work as part of a collaborative team, will be highly valued.
As this is a part-time position, strong organisational and time management skills will be essential, along with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and work autonomously when required.
Some of the key skills, qualities and attributes we are looking for include:
- Proficiency in legal software and document management systems. Experience with iManage and Aderant would be advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Self-confidence, initiative and a professional approach to all dealings.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- The ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
