About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Peer Worker to join the Community Mental Health team based in Dubbo. This temporary full-time position is ideal for someone who can draw upon their own lived experience of mental health challenges and personal recovery to provide hope, encouragement and meaningful support to people accessing mental health services.
Working closely with consumers, clinical staff, non-government organisations and community agencies, the Peer Worker will promote recovery-oriented practice and support individuals to engage in their treatment and recovery journey. The role focuses on building empathic relationships, facilitating recovery activities, and empowering people to maintain and improve their mental health and wellbeing.
The position is based in Dubbo, with an expectation to provide support across regional communities as required. Hours of work are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
This role also contributes to the Local Health District's response to disaster, emergency and rural adversity events, supporting diverse communities and priority populations in line with the Disaster Response and Recovery Model of Care.
