We are a proud Australian electrical engineering firm specialising in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge solutions across Power Distribution, Control Systems, and IT/OT. Servicing key industries including Mining, Infrastructure, Defence, and Renewable Energy, we are driven by our core values: Safety, People, Community, and Quality.
We are committed to engineering a sustainable future, supporting our people, and delivering quality for our clients.
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organised, and proactive Project Controls Coordinator to join our team, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
In this role, you will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of Cell Engineering’s project cost and schedule data. Working alongside Project Managers, you will convert approved estimates into baselines, maintain cost sheets, develop schedules, and champion Primavera adoption across the business. This role follows a structured, milestone-gated development pathway toward a Junior PMO position.
Key Responsibilities
-
Convert approved quotes and estimates into projects, establishing cost baselines in Primavera Unifier and schedule structures in Primavera P6.
- Maintain the Unifier cost sheet—tracking budgets, commitments, actual costs, and forecast (EAC)—as the single source of project cost truth.
- Own the integrity of hours and cost data flowing from timesheets and accounts payable into Unifier.
- Track hours and spend against baseline, producing budget-vs-actual and cost-to-complete (ETC/EAC) analysis.
- Manage variations and change through Unifier business processes, from pricing through approval to baseline adjustments.
- Build, progress, baseline, and maintain Primavera P6 schedules to keep cost and schedule aligned.
- Prepare monthly cost, WIP, and forecast reporting using Unifier and Power BI.
- Champion Primavera P6 and Unifier adoption and data standards across Project Managers and engineers.
- Lead, support, and develop the Project Administrator.
Skills & Experience Required
-
Practical experience in project controls or project administration, ideally within engineering or construction.
- Solid understanding of quote-to-project conversion, cost baselines, commitments, actuals, and forecasting.
- Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Unifier (or a clear aptitude to develop to champion level).
- Strong command of timesheet, hours, and cost data flows paired with sound Excel skills.
- Analytical mindset with developing commercial awareness (earned value, margins, budget tracking).
- Highly organised, accurate, and comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and regional offices.
Why Join Cell Engineering?
-
Be part of a values-driven company that prioritises safety, integrity, people, and community.
- Follow a clear, milestone-gated career progression pathway toward Junior PMO.
- Work in an autonomous role collaborating directly with senior leadership and project delivery teams.
- Contribute directly to high-impact projects across vital industries like Renewables, Defence, Utilities, and Mining.
