About ACT Health Centre
Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy. The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility. It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College. There is a 24-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles. Standard hours of operation are generally 0800-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).
This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. After-hours, weekend and on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.
What you’ll do

Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members

Occupational Medicine environment, conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care, in addition to injury management, chronic disease management and preventative health

Support the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) DFR in the screening and assessment of the health suitability of applicants to join the Australian Defence Force (ADF)

Provide clear verbal and written advice and recommendations to Defence Force Recruiting Centre (DFRC) medical practitioners regarding applicants’ health suitability

Make decisions regarding the health suitability of applicants to join the ADF

Undertake case reviews and prepare findings in the required written format, including responses to requests such as ministerial complaints and internal audits

Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellness is paramount
What you bring
-
Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner

FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration
-
Minimum two years’ GP experience in the last five years in a General Practice Setting
- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)

Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)

Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
