An IT Support Technician is responsible for providing technical support to employees or customers by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, networks, and other IT systems. They ensure that technology operates efficiently, resolve technical issues promptly, and help users with day-to-day IT needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Respond to IT support requests through phone, email, remote support, or in person.
- Set up user accounts, passwords, email access, and system permissions.
- Install, update, and troubleshoot operating systems and business applications.
- Perform routine maintenance, system updates, backups, and security checks.
- Configure and support local area networks (LAN), Wi-Fi, VPNs, and internet connectivity.
- Document support requests, solutions, and technical procedures in the help desk system.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or external vendors when necessary.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding by preparing and configuring IT equipment for employees.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies, cybersecurity standards, and data protection procedures.
- Provide basic training and guidance to users on IT systems and software.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in IT support, help desk, or technical support is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals, and common business software.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, hardware troubleshooting, printers, and remote support tools is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or ITIL are an advantage.
Pay: $55,057.85 – $99,519.89 per year
