We are a growing business with a supportive and collaborative workshop environment, and we are now seeking an experienced Caravan Repair Technician (Vehicle Body Builder) to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.
About the Role
As a Caravan Repair Technician (Vehicle Body Builder) at Dario Caravans & Repairs, you will be responsible for the hands-on modification, and repair of caravan and recreational vehicle bodies.
Working from job specifications and drawings, you will fabricate chassis frameworks, form and attach body panels, carry out internal trim installations, and ensure all completed work meets our quality and safety standards.
This is a full-time position of 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00 – 4:30pm, with the possibility of occasional Saturday morning overtime hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate body structure components from materials including steel, timber, fibreglass, and composites, making use of trade specific shaping, welding, and cutting tools and equipment
- Join fabricated structural components together using a range of fastening and welding techniques to produce solid, complete vehicle frames ready for panelling and fit out
- Work with sheetmetal, aluminium, and reinforced plastic stock to produce body panels, trim them to size, and fix them securely in place across the vehicle body using appropriate hand and power tools
- Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance on caravans, campers, and RVs, and rework vehicle bodies where customers require non-standard layouts or purpose built configurations
- Strip out worn or damaged interior coverings and fittings, measure up the space, and plan replacement trim work in line with job cards or customer requirements.
- Install interior lining materials, floor coverings, armrests, and overhead panels throughout the caravan or vehicle, making sure each component sits flush and is properly secured
- Fit all door and entry related hardware including trims, rubber weather seals, locking mechanisms, and handles, completing the external finish of the vehicle
- Inspect finished work against job requirements, rectify any defects, and follow job cards and workshop instructions accurately to ensure quality outcomes on every job
- Keep the workshop clean, tidy, and well organised day to day, and comply with all safety procedures and WHS requirements
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated hands on experience in vehicle body building, caravan manufacturing or repair, coach building, or a closely related trade
- Proficiency in the use of welding, cutting, and shaping equipment as applied to metal, timber, fibreglass, and related materials
- Competency in forming and fitting body panels, trim components, and sealing systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, job cards, and build specifications
- Sound knowledge of workshop safety practices and WHS obligations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality finished work
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
The following qualifications and experience will be considered:
- AQF Certificate III in a relevant trade including at least two years of on the job training; OR, AQF Certificate IV in a relevant trade such as cabinet making, building and construction, recreational vehicle servicing, or automotive mechanical diagnosis; OR, Minimum three years of equivalent full-time paid work experience in vehicle body building or a closely related field
- Current driver licence (required)
- Forklift licence (desirable)
Training and Development
- On the job training and mentoring provided by experienced caravan body builders
- Opportunity to undertake a Certificate III in Recreational Vehicle Service and Repair for candidates seeking formal trade recognition
- Ongoing support for skill development and career progression within the workshop team
