The Meat Republic is a modern Balkan restaurant located in the heart of Melbourne CBD, specialising in charcoal-grilled meats and authentic Balkan cuisine with a contemporary touch.
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Commis Chef / Junior Chef to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about cooking, eager to develop their skills, and wants to grow with an exciting and expanding restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and cooking during service.
- Prepare ingredients and maintain mise en place.
- Ensure dishes are prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation and food safety standards throughout the kitchen.
- Work efficiently as part of a fast-paced kitchen team.
- Assist with stock rotation and general kitchen duties.
About You
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
- Passion for cooking and a willingness to learn.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to perform well under pressure.
- Positive attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with, or knowledge of, Balkan cuisine will be highly regarded.
