The Opportunity: Reporting to the Subsurface Manager, purpose of the role is to lead subsurface analysis and activity planning across three key aspects of the hydrocarbon maturation process which are reservoir characterization, production forecasting and reserves management. Provide assurance and estimation of subsurface properties across AE coal seam gas fields using range of acquired subsurface data.

This is a Brisbane based position and will require occasional travel to our field operations as required, with plenty of notice.
In addition, as a Principal Reservoir Engineer you will:
- Lead, define and document subsurface data acquisition strategies and uncertainty management activities to support the development concept, production forecast basis and other core subsurface assumptions.
- Deliver and assure corporate reference case subsurface dynamic model and the subsurface assumptions required to develop the corporate production forecasts. Manage interfaces with production, drilling, and projects functions to ensure results of decisions and associated assumptions are adequately reflected in the subsurface model.
- Deliver production forecast and core assumptions, as well as Reference and Sensitivity scenarios (i.e. “corporate production forecast case map”). Responsible for the implementation of best practice in all areas of Reservoir Engineering Conduct production forecasting activities (May be probabilistic or deterministic; including analytical / integrated production system modelling as required).
- Provide assurance and support to the Operations and Operations Support Function (on short term production forecasting and activity planning). Serve as influential integrating agent between subsurface, development, capacity planning, operations, and other business support function teams. Conduct discipline assurance of short-term forecast input and other operational subsurface deliverables.
- Provide recommendations to safely mitigate the risks and ensure opportunities are captured and realised through Subsurface opportunity realization process. Participate in Integrated Activity and Area wide Planning sessions.
- Analyse and present Reserves & Resources technical assurance of the corporate Reserves Portfolio and the associated change control process (i.e. updates to development priorities). Assist with delivery of certification exercises with third-party auditor for AE operated fields.
- Represent the Subsurface function as a senior technical specialist, providing peer review, technical assurance and clear communication of complex subsurface matters to internal and external stakeholders.

About You:
- Qualification required: Being able to operate on a level equivalent to a university degree or First degree or Other Professional Qualification
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Petroleum industry with emphasis on development roles
- Well-developed organisational, communication, presentations and managerial skills
- As a discipline leader, you must have excellent interpersonal & leadership skills, that allow you to effectively cocreate solutions across different parts of the organisation
- Have demonstrable competence, proven track record and capabilities to take a leading role in collaboratively progressing complex opportunities, with dimensions that both rely on in-depth reservoir engineering domain knowledge, but also broad knowledge on general gas field development
- Track record in coaching and developing staff, both within own reservoir engineering discipline and other subsurface disciplines
