Job Scope
The Kitchenhand is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety throughout the kitchen and back-of-house areas while supporting the kitchen team with day-to-day operational requirements.
As part of a new lounge opening, you will also play an important role in helping establish strong operational, hygiene and safety standards from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow established outlet procedures, food safety requirements and service standards.
- Maintain kitchen facilities, equipment and work areas to the required cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Clean kitchen surfaces, benches, equipment and work areas.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
- Wash and correctly store dishes, cookware, utensils and other kitchen equipment.
- Polish cutlery and glassware as required.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste safely and appropriately.
- Maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Assist with receiving, unloading and correctly storing deliveries.
- Keep storerooms organised, clean and safe.
- Follow Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and promptly report any hazards or safety concerns.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment and use appropriate manual handling techniques.
- Use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cleaning and operational tasks.
- Support the kitchen and wider lounge team during opening preparations and ongoing daily operations.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure the new lounge is operationally ready and maintained to Plaza Premium Group standards.
- Meet required performance standards and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, hospitality or similar environment.
- Experience using commercial or industrial cleaning products and equipment safely.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and workplace safety practices.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- A polite, friendly and professional manner.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability, accountability and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Availability to commence employment from approximately mid-October 2026.
