About the role
Reporting to the Executive Chef, you'll be a skilled, reliable and passionate contributor to the Rockpool kitchen team. You'll prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals following our menus and standards, always with an eye on presentation, dietary requirements and the resident experience.
This is a hands-on cooking role with regular hours, a supportive kitchen culture, and the genuine satisfaction of knowing your food makes a real difference to people's daily lives.

Key responsibilities include:

Prepare and cook meals to Rockpool's quality standards — nutritious, well-presented and tailored to resident dietary and cultural needs

Follow menus, recipes and production schedules as directed by the Executive Chef

Prepare meals for diverse dietary requirements including texture-modified, allergen-free and culturally specific dishes

Maintain food safety documentation including temperature records, HACCP checks and cleaning logs

Keep your section and shared kitchen areas clean and hygienic to required standards

Assist with stock rotation, date labelling and correct food storage

Report equipment faults, supply shortages or food safety concerns to the Executive Chef promptly

Contribute to a positive kitchen culture and participate in special events and resident functions
Skills and experience

Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in hospitality, healthcare or aged care

Solid technical cooking skills — food preparation, cooking techniques, plating and presentation

Ability to cook for diverse dietary needs including texture-modified and allergen-free requirements

Sound knowledge of food safety, HACCP and kitchen hygiene standards

Reliable, punctual and consistent under the pressures of service

A team player who communicates well and supports their colleagues

Experience in aged care or healthcare kitchens highly regarded, not essential

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (essential)

Food Safety Supervisor Certification or willingness to obtain (essential)

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or apprenticeship completion (desirable)
