North Coast Support Services is seeking reliable and compassionate NDIS Disability Support Workers to provide person-centred assistance to participants throughout the Northern Rivers.
This is an independent subcontractor opportunity offering flexible hours based on participant choice, referrals and available NDIS funding.
The role
Depending on each participant’s individual needs and goals, supports may include:
- Supporting participants to access the community, appointments and recreational activities
- Developing daily living and self-help skills
- Assisting with shopping, cooking and meal preparation
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and decision-making
- Building confidence, relationships and independence
- Assisting participants to follow routines and practise allied-health strategies
- Providing transport where agreed
- Completing accurate shift notes and required documentation
- Identifying and reporting incidents, risks and safeguarding concerns
Hours and remuneration
- Hours vary according to participant needs, referrals and available funding.
- No minimum hours or income are guaranteed.
- Contractor remuneration ranges from approximately $44 to $98 per approved billable hour, depending on the applicable NDIS support item and when the support is delivered.
- Payment is made after North Coast Support Services receives payment for the relevant support.
- Initial 12-month subcontractor agreement with the opportunity for extension.
Essential requirements
Applicants must have or be willing to obtain before commencing:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current National Police Check
- Working with Children Check where required
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Infection prevention and control training
- Australian Business Number
- Appropriate insurance
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence
- Reliable, registered and insured vehicle
- Smartphone and capacity to complete electronic shift notes
- Legal entitlement to work in Australia
A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Youth Work or a related field is desirable. Applicants with relevant lived experience or strong transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.
