What you’ll do
Step into a brand-new, blank-canvas Category Manager role for Family Accessories! This is a unique opportunity to take complete, end-to-end ownership of our men's, women's, and kids' accessories portfolio.
If you have a sharp eye for emerging styles and love translating fast-moving trends into massive commercial wins, this is where you can make your mark. You will execute a dynamic, trend-led strategy that directly contributes to BIG W’s broader goals. Overseeing the "4 Ps" (product, price, promotions, and placement) and guided by deep customer insights, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to lay the exact groundwork needed for scalable, long-term growth.
Strategy & Range Curation: Build the category strategy and curate ranges, pricing, and promotional channel plans utilising strong market and customer insights to ensure alignment with the overarching BIG W strategy.
Commercial Leadership: Lead and mentor your team to consistently deliver on key commercial targets, driving sales growth, profitability, and increased market share.
Operational Optimisation: Establish robust foundations for future growth by conducting comprehensive reviews and improvements of the current operating model and supplier base.
Stakeholder & Supplier Partnerships: Cultivate strategic relationships with external suppliers, BIG W Asia, and the internal Graphic Packaging Design team to optimise the supplier portfolio, maximise own-brand offerings, and grow customer advocacy.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Oversee the New Product Development (NPD) process, ensuring all products comply with Australian Consumer Law and that exclusive and own-brand lines successfully pass BIG W's QA approval processes prior to ranging.
What you’ll bring
Proven experience as a Category Manager in a large-scale retail environment, experience within apparel or accessories is highly regarded.
A demonstrated track record of developing and executing customer-centric category plans, driven by sound commercial data and aligned with broader divisional strategies.
Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to confidently influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders at all levels of the business.
A strong drive to continuously learn and become the definitive industry expert for your category within the Australian retail landscape.
A genuine enthusiasm for product development, remaining at the forefront of market innovation, trends, and continuous improvement.
