Corporate Technology | Own the technology agenda for Finance at Coles
At Coles, technology is fundamental to how we operate one of Australia's largest and most complex retail businesses.
Our Corporate Technology team is responsible for the technology ecosystems that enable our enterprise functions to operate effectively today while continuing to evolve for the future.
We're looking for a senior technology leader to take end-to-end accountability for the technology that enables Finance at Coles.
This is a significant enterprise leadership role spanning technology strategy, investment, transformation, operational performance, risk, resilience and lifecycle management across the Finance technology landscape.
You'll partner closely with senior Finance leaders, including the CFO and Finance Leadership Team, to understand their priorities, shape the technology agenda and ensure our Finance technology capabilities are positioned to support the business now and into the future.
Think of Finance as a business in its own right.
Your role is to understand how that business operates, what it needs from technology, where its greatest opportunities and risks lie, and how technology can enable its strategy.
You'll own the Finance technology portfolio end-to-end, taking an enterprise view across our core SAP Finance ecosystem and the applications, integrations and services supporting financial operations, treasury, tax, banking, payments, controls and regulatory obligations.
This is broader than leading a transformation program or managing a product roadmap.
You'll connect strategy, investment, delivery and operations into a coherent technology agenda — balancing transformation and business improvement with regulatory commitments, operational resilience, technology lifecycle and technical debt.
You'll also provide Finance leaders with a clear view of how technology is performing, where we're investing, what we're delivering and the decisions and risks that require attention.
Technology strategy and roadmap
Set the vision and multi-year technology roadmap for Finance, translating Finance and Coles priorities into an integrated portfolio of technology outcomes and investment priorities.
Technology portfolio and investment
Shape and prioritise investment across transformation, regulatory requirements, risk reduction, lifecycle management and business improvement, making clear choices based on business value, risk and strategic outcomes.
Running the Finance technology estate
Take accountability for the health and operational effectiveness of the technology Finance relies upon, ensuring platforms and services are reliable, resilient, secure, controlled and cost-effective.
Transformation and delivery outcomes
Provide end-to-end oversight of initiatives across the Finance technology portfolio, navigating dependencies and ensuring investment translates into meaningful business outcomes
Risk, resilience and lifecycle
Proactively manage technology risk, resilience, platform currency, technical debt, security, controls, vendor dependencies and lifecycle priorities across the portfolio.
Executive business partnership
Act as the key technology partner for senior Finance stakeholders, including the CFO and Finance Leadership Team, bringing together business and technology perspectives to create clarity and enable decisions.
Enterprise technology leadership
Orchestrate outcomes across Product, Architecture, Engineering, Quality, Delivery, Service Management, Cyber, Risk and strategic partners, leading through influence across organisational boundaries.
People and capability leadership
Lead, coach and develop Product Managers and contribute to the continued maturity of product and technology management practices across Coles.
You're an experienced technology leader who understands what it takes to own technology for a complex enterprise business function.
You can move comfortably between conversations about business strategy and investment with senior executives, enterprise architecture and platforms with technology leaders, transformation with delivery teams, and operational performance with service and strategic partners.
You don't need to be the deepest technical specialist in every platform. Your strength is seeing the whole system — understanding how business processes, technology, people, investment, operations and risk fit together — and creating the clarity and alignment needed to make good decisions.
You'll bring significant experience in several of the following areas:
Leading a significant technology portfolio, enterprise applications landscape or business technology domain within a large, complex organisation.- Finance technology and the enterprise business processes it enables.
- Major ERP ecosystems, ideally including SAP Finance and SAP S/4HANA.
- Owning technology across both run and change, balancing operational performance with transformation and strategic investment.
- Developing technology strategies, multi-year roadmaps and investment priorities.
- Leading complex enterprise technology transformation across multiple teams, platforms and partners.
- Technology risk, resilience, security, controls and lifecycle management.
- Commercial and vendor management within a complex technology environment.
- Building trusted relationships with senior executives and influencing decisions across business and technology.
- Leading through ambiguity and organisational boundaries to deliver enterprise outcomes.
Your background might be in Finance Technology, Enterprise Applications, ERP leadership, Technology Business Partnership, Technology Portfolio Management or Product leadership.
We're less concerned about your current job title than the scope of accountability you've held and your ability to take ownership of a complex technology landscape and lead it as though it were your business.
Few technology leadership roles offer the opportunity to influence a business of the scale and complexity of Coles.
Finance sits at the heart of that business, and the technology landscape supporting it is critical to how we operate, manage risk, invest and evolve.
This role gives you genuine end-to-end accountability: the opportunity to shape where we invest, improve how our technology estate performs, influence major transformation and work directly with senior Finance and Technology leaders on the decisions that matter.
If you're motivated by owning the bigger picture — bringing together business strategy, technology, operations, investment and transformation to make a critical enterprise function successful — we'd love to hear from you.
