We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join our Legal & Compliance department and play a key role in supporting regulatory compliance, strategic initiatives, and organisational change across the business.

About the Role
Reporting to the Compliance Stream Lead, you will provide practical and commercially focused compliance advice to stakeholders across the bank. You will support regulatory change projects, assist with compliance frameworks and reporting obligations, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure compliance requirements are effectively understood and implemented.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing compliance advice on strategic business initiatives, regulatory changes and compliance projects
- Supporting the implementation of regulatory reforms and compliance programs
- Assisting with compliance investigations, incident assessments and remediation activities
- Supporting the management and ongoing enhancement of compliance frameworks
- Assisting with compliance reviews, audits and regulatory reporting obligations
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and maintaining reporting schedules
- Contributing to staff awareness, training and the promotion of a strong compliance culture
- Liaising with internal stakeholders, regulators, industry bodies and external advisers as required
- Reviewing and approving advertising materials and public-facing documentation where required.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business, Management, Economics or a related discipline
- Professional compliance qualifications and typically 5–8 years' compliance experience, ideally within a retail bank
- Strong understanding of financial services and consumer credit legislation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret complex legislative requirements and provide practical business advice
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience supporting the implementation of the AML/CTF reforms would be highly regarded
- Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
