We are seeking a professional, high-energy Venue Manager to lead the daily operations of our busy, high-quality cafe/restaurant and have experience in leading events such as weddings, corporate functions and birthdays.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, driving operational excellence, and building a strong, motivated team.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and takes pride in running a smooth, profitable, and welcoming venue.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a team of front-of-house
- Create positive team culture with high standards of service and performance
- Manage rostering, performance reviews, and staff development
- Foster a supportive and professional work environment
Operations & Service Excellence
- Oversee all day-to-day venue operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Maintain exceptional standards of customer service and guest satisfaction
- Manage opening/closing procedures and ensure the venue is always presentation-ready
- Handle customer feedback and resolve any issues promptly and professionally
- Oversee and manage functions and events inc. enquiries, planning and executing.
Financial & Business Performance
- Monitor and control costs (food, beverage, labour, and overheads)
- Drive revenue through excellent service, upselling, and promotional execution
- Track daily/weekly sales and KPIs, reporting to owners
- Manage stock ordering, inventory control, and wastage
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene (HACCP), OH&S, and licensing requirements
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and venue presentation
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate best terms where possible
Other Duties
- Work weekends and some evenings as required (hospitality hours)
- Represent the venue positively in the local community
- Support marketing and social media efforts when needed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Venue Manager, Restaurant Manager, or Cafe Manager in a high-volume environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Excellent customer service mindset and problem-solving ability
- Solid understanding of P&L, cost control, and inventory management
- Experience with POS systems and basic Microsoft Office/Google tools
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (or equivalent)
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate (highly regarded)
- Passion for hospitality and genuine care for both guests and staff
Pay: $85,000.00 – $92,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
