About this Opportunity
The Manager, Finance Partnerships will provide strategic finance business partnering, financial leadership and high-quality advice to support one or more VIDA Project Offices.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Finance Continuous Improvement, the role manages budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, performance analysis and governance activities across complex projects and operational environments. Ensure financial information is accurate, timely and insight-driven, supporting sound decision-making, financial accountability and the effective management of risks and opportunities.
Working closely with project delivery teams and stakeholders across VIDA, portfolio departments and central agencies, you will provide trusted financial advice, influence senior decision-makers and strengthen financial capability and accountability.
Lead continuous improvement across financial systems, controls, processes and reporting practices, helping VIDA deliver greater efficiency, assurance and evidence-based insights.
About You
An experienced finance leader with a strong background in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and business partnering within a complex organisation.
Combine strong technical expertise with sound judgement and a practical, collaborative approach. Can interpret complex financial and performance information, translate it into clear insights and provide authoritative advice that supports senior leaders to make informed decisions.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience contributing to financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring and management reporting in a complex project, program or portfolio environment.
- Strong finance business partnering capability, with the confidence to influence, negotiate and provide strategic advice to executives, senior leaders and project teams.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify financial risks, trends, variances and opportunities and recommend practical actions.
- Demonstrated experience preparing high-quality financial reports, dashboards, briefings, budget submissions and performance commentary for senior management.
- Sound knowledge of financial governance, compliance, assurance and internal control frameworks, ideally within government or a major infrastructure environment.
- High-level proficiency in enterprise financial systems and data analytics tools such as Oracle, EcoSys, Excel and Power BI.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring and management reporting within a complex organisation, including the ability to provide accurate, timely and strategic financial advice that supports operational delivery, executive decision-making and organisational accountability.
- Proven ability to provide professional leadership and strategic finance business partnering across complex stakeholder environments, exercising sound judgement, influencing senior leaders and driving outcomes through collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with executives, senior leaders, project teams and external government stakeholders, including the ability to influence, negotiate and provide sound advice to support project, portfolio and whole-of-government outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial, operational and performance data, identify risks, trends, variances and opportunities, and develop practical recommendations that strengthen financial performance, governance and project outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience preparing high-quality financial reporting, dashboards, briefings, budget submissions and performance commentary for senior management, including the ability to translate complex information into clear insights that support transparency, early escalation and evidence-based decision making.
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex projects, programs or portfolios, including financial governance, budget management, forecasting, variance analysis, performance monitoring and management of financial risks and opportunities to support successful delivery of organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in financial governance, compliance, assurance and internal control frameworks, including the application of relevant legislation, accounting standards, government policies and financial management requirements such as the Financial Management Act and Financial Management Compliance Framework.
- High-level proficiency in enterprise resource planning systems, financial reporting platforms and data analytics tools such as Oracle, EcoSys, Excel and Power BI, together with demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, controls and reporting frameworks to enhance efficiency, data quality, assurance and support evidence-based decision-making.
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
- Tertiary qualification (Bachelor or higher) in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA or equivalent).
