Role Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager (Integrated Delivery) to play a pivotal role in one of Australia’s most significant and innovative defence programs. As the primary engineering interface for project stakeholders, you will be at the forefront of customer engagement, leading the delivery of engineering outcomes while ensuring cost and schedule performance, technical risk management, and effective collaboration across internal and customer teams.
This is far more than a traditional engineering leadership role. It offers the unique opportunity to represent the engineering delivery team in key customer and stakeholder engagements, while building strong international partnerships and influencing project success on a global stage.
Adding to its appeal, the position includes extensive international travel and the potential to undertake a Canada-based secondment from 2027, providing invaluable global experience and career growth opportunities. Core Duties:
- Ensure adherence to Engineering cost and schedule commitments
- Delegate for A-OTHR Program Engineering Manager, as required and appropriate
- Shared interface to Australian and Canadian Government Engineering organisations
- Works within and across a matrix organisation to manage dependencies and ensure resource demands are articulated, coordinating engineering outputs to help deliver the program solution
- Shared leadership of the Program Engineering Team in the realisation of the Mission and Support System Engineering solution while optimising cost and schedule
- Identify and manage Technical Risk within the project and support the Project Management team in Risk Management
- Presentation of changes to Configuration Control Boards
- Manage and champion Incremental Capability Delivery
- Work collaboratively with other Project Engineering Managers across the Matrix Organisation
- Extensive travel to Canada required from 2027 or possibility of secondment
Essential Skills:
- Negative Vetting 1 Defence security clearance
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- A Bachelor’s Degree level engineering qualification in an appropriate discipline with a Chartered Professional Engineer status
- Strong leadership experience working with multi-discipline leadership teams to deliver outcomes in accordance with the agreed plan
- Demonstrated experience in development and execution of strategic capability plans relating to product and/or engineering development
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.
