About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Screen Printing Technician for an immediate start on
a full-time basis, working 38 hours per week from Osborne Park WA 6017.
In summary, the Lead Screen Printing Technician will be responsible for the complete preparation,
setup, operation, and quality assurance of the company's commercial screen printing production.
This is a highly specialised position requiring advanced technical knowledge of screen preparation,
colour management, automatic screen printing equipment, production planning, and quality control.
The role works closely with the Graphics Department and Production Team to ensure artwork is
accurately reproduced, customer colour requirements are achieved, and all orders are completed
efficiently to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate will be required to perform a variety of tasks, including:
Printing on a wide range of textile products including t-shirts, uniforms, bags, tea towels, and
other general textile products.
Preparing all screens for production using the Computer-to-Screen (CTS) imaging system and
exposure unit.
Coating, exposing, inspecting, reclaiming, and maintaining screens to ensure optimal print
quality and production efficiency.
Selecting the appropriate mesh counts, screen tensions, stencil specifications, and exposure
settings to suit individual print requirements.
Ensuring all screens are accurately prepared and completed in advance of scheduled
production dates to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
Liaising closely with the Graphic Design team to review artwork separations prior to screen
production, identifying potential print issues and recommending technical improvements to
achieve the highest quality print outcomes.
Assessing artwork suitability for screen printing and advising on modifications to improve
registration, print clarity, colour reproduction, and production efficiency.
Setting up complex multi-colour screen printing jobs requiring precise registration and
alignment across multiple print stations.
Configuring and calibrating press settings to ensure accurate reproduction of customer
artwork and consistent print quality throughout production.
Accurately mixing inks to achieve exact customer-supplied Pantone Matching System (PMS)
colours while maintaining colour consistency across production runs.
Operating and overseeing production on the 10-station, 8-colour TAS Automatic Screen
Printing Machine.
Monitoring machine performance throughout production and making technical adjustments
to maintain print quality, registration accuracy, and production efficiency.
Troubleshooting production and print quality issues, implementing corrective actions to
minimise downtime and reduce production waste.
Loading printed items into drying racks and unloading, stacking, and preparing finished
products for the next stage of production or dispatch.
Coordinating production staff during print runs, allocating team members to required
workstations and providing technical guidance to ensure efficient workflow.
Performing comprehensive quality control inspections throughout all stages of production,
including screen quality, registration accuracy, ink coverage, curing, garment presentation,
and finished product standards.
Identifying quality issues promptly and implementing corrective measures to ensure all
products meet company and customer quality expectations.
Planning and managing daily screen printing workflow to ensure production schedules and
customer delivery deadlines are consistently achieved.
Performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and preventative servicing of the automatic
press, CTS equipment, exposure unit, screens, squeegees, floodbars, and associated
production equipment.
Monitoring inventory levels of inks, emulsions, screens, chemicals, and production
consumables to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment in accordance with company
procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve
production processes, increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall
print quality.
Applying advanced technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail to
consistently deliver high-quality printed products while supporting the efficient operation of
the screen printing department.
Working collaboratively across the Graphics, Production, and Management teams to ensure
customer specifications are met and production objectives are achieved.
Training and upskilling other team members to improve team knowledge.
KPI Meetings with managers to ensure entire team are meeting expectations.
Skills and Experience Required:
For this position, it is expected that the candidate possesses the following qualifications and work
experience:
A Certificate III in Printing or higher qualification in related Screen Print studies, together
with at least one year of full-time experience working in a Screen Printer role. The formal
qualification can be substituted by at least 3 years of relevant work experience in a Screen
Printer role.
