Get paid to coach badminton, close to home, with actual training behind you.
Go Badminton coaches kids across South-East Melbourne - Noble Park, Bayswater, Moorabbin, Mount Waverley and Mulgrave. If you live around there and you play badminton, this is about as good as a casual job gets: a short trip, a regular weekly slot, and work you'd probably enjoy doing anyway.
Most casual coaching jobs hand you a court full of kids and wish you luck. We run the opposite way - you walk in to a real curriculum, a manager on the floor with you, and a group of coaches all trying to get better.
WHAT'S ACTUALLY IN IT FOR YOU
It works around your study, properly.
This is the part most jobs get wrong. You pick one regular weekly slot and you keep it - weekday evenings (4:30-6:30) or weekends. It's 2 hours. It doesn't move, it doesn't get rostered on top of your exams, and you're not on call. You can plan a semester around it.
Money that actually changes your week.
A couple of sessions is real money in your pocket every fortnight, from something that takes a few hours. That's dinner out with your mates instead of staying in, a weekend away, the concert ticket, petrol in the car - without asking anyone for it or picking up shifts that eat your whole week. Two hours on a Friday shouldn't cost you your social life. Here it funds it.
You'll get properly good at coaching - on our time, not yours.
We train you in and we pay you from day one. You start by shadowing, then take a small group of two, and build up to a full group over your first sessions. Nobody gets thrown in the deep end. Every session ends with a quick call to help you improve.
It's real experience, not shuttle-picking.
You run your own court and you make the calls on it. Reading a group, holding attention, breaking a skill down, adapting when the plan isn't working - that transfers straight into teaching, coaching, managing, and every interview you'll ever sit.
There's somewhere to go.
The ladder is published, and it goes further than most casual jobs: full coaches are on $30/hr, and coaches who step up to Manager - running the floor across courts - reach up to $55/hr with bonus. You start on a training rate while we bring you up to speed, and every rung has a clear, stated bar. Nobody's guessing why someone else got moved up.
You'll like the people.
You're not a lone contractor. There's a coach team, a group chat, managers who back you up when a court gets messy, and good work gets called out publicly. A lot of our coaches got here because another coach told them to apply.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You can play properly - not elite, but you can hit a clean shuttle and feed to a student.
- You genuinely like kids (roughly 6-16) and want to be there for them.
- You'll follow a system and take feedback - we coach as a team, not as freelancers.
- You're based in or near South-East Melbourne and can commit to the same slot each week.
WHAT WE'RE NOT
We're not building national champions. We're here to make kids love badminton - health, fun, and the feeling of actually getting good at something. If that sounds better to you than an elite pathway, you'll fit.
Apply with a couple of lines about your badminton and why you'd be good with kids.
