About the role
This is a high-impact role at the heart of Avant's Medical Indemnity insurance business, responsible for shaping strategy, identifying growth opportunities, and driving initiatives that influence key business decisions. As Strategy Manager, you'll provide the insight and evidence that underpin strategic direction, partnering with senior leaders to solve complex challenges and deliver meaningful outcomes for our 90,000+ medical professional members.
We are looking for a commercially astute and analytically rigorous strategist who can transform complex data into clear recommendations and confidently lead initiatives from concept through to execution. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you'll combine strategic thinking, stakeholder influence and problem-solving expertise to help shape the future of the business.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead strategic analysis of market trends, competitive dynamics, customer needs and emerging opportunities to identify business growth, efficiency and member value opportunities.
- Develop data-driven insights and evidence-based recommendations that inform strategic decision-making and support long-term organisational growth.
- Drive strategic planning activities across key business priorities and contribute to the development of enterprise strategy.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives and projects from discovery and analysis through to recommendation, implementation and benefit realisation.
- Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to gather insights, align priorities and deliver strategic outcomes across the organisation.
- Prepare and present executive papers, business cases, Board submissions and strategic recommendations for senior audiences.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and manage relationships with external consultants and advisors to support strategic objectives.
- Design and implement performance frameworks, metrics and measures to track strategic success and business outcomes.
- Apply quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to solve complex business challenges and generate actionable insights.
- Monitor industry trends, market developments and the competitive landscape, translating complex information and data into clear, practical business recommendations.
Skills and experience required
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, Statistics, Commerce or Engineering
- Experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, business transformation or business analysis
- Strong analytical and commercial problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
- Exceptional presentation, storytelling and communication skills
- Experience developing business cases and executive-level recommendations
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI) and statistical software
- A proactive, curious and self-driven approach
Preferred experience
- Financial Services industry (Insurance) experience or experience working in a mutual/member-owned organisation
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modelling techniques
