Assistant Venue Manager – The Rose & Crown, Southbank
The Rose & Crown is a busy, vibrant pub in Southbank, Brisbane, offering a quality food and beverage experience in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Venue Manager to join our team and play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the venue.
The Role
As Assistant Venue Manager, you will work closely with the Venue Manager to ensure the venue operates efficiently, delivers excellent customer service and maintains high standards across both food and beverage operations.
You will be a hands-on leader who is confident working across all areas of the venue, supporting the team during busy service periods and helping to create a positive and professional workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Venue Manager with the day-to-day operation of the venue
- Lead and support the front-of-house team during service
- Maintain consistently high standards of customer service
- Assist with staff training, coaching and development
- Help manage staffing levels, rosters and daily operational requirements
- Ensure venue presentation, cleanliness and service standards are maintained
- Assist with stock management, ordering and inventory control
- Monitor food and beverage quality and presentation
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally
- Assist with functions, events and large bookings
- Ensure responsible service of alcohol and compliance with relevant legislation
- Follow and enforce company policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Support the Venue Manager with achieving sales, labour and operational targets
- Lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a busy pub, restaurant, bar or hospitality venue
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods
- A hands-on approach to hospitality and team management
- Strong attention to detail and high standards
- Good knowledge of food and beverage operations
- Experience with staff training and performance management
- A strong understanding of responsible service of alcohol and workplace health and safety
- The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
- A positive attitude and a genuine passion for hospitality
