The Role
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy Maroubra Medical Centre.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will oversee the efficient operation of the centre, including General Practice, Dental, Radiology and Treatment Room services. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team while creating a professional, welcoming and patient-centred environment.
This full-time position is ideal for an organised and commercially minded leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes and delivering excellent operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead the daily operations of the medical centre and ensure services run efficiently.
- Manage, support and develop reception, administration and other practice team members.
- Prepare effective rosters that align staffing levels with patient demand and centre requirements.
- Build strong working relationships with healthcare professionals and provide the operational support they need.
- Promote and implement standard operating procedures, policies and professional work practices.
- Monitor centre performance and implement strategies that improve service delivery and operational results.
- Drive continuous quality improvement across patient safety, care effectiveness and the patient experience.
- Identify staff training needs and support ongoing learning and development.
- Create a positive workplace culture built on teamwork, trust, accountability and excellent customer service.
- Encourage employee feedback and identify opportunities to improve processes and minimise waste.
- Assist with conflict resolution and respond professionally to patient or workplace concerns.
- Ensure employees have the systems, resources and support required to perform effectively.
- Champion workplace health and safety practices across the centre.
- Coordinate workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and WHS communications.
- Ensure hazards and incidents are reported, investigated and appropriately addressed.
- Support injury management, workers’ compensation matters and return-to-work processes when required.
About You
You are a confident and approachable leader who can balance operational priorities with the needs of patients, employees and healthcare professionals.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in practice management, healthcare operations or a similar leadership position.
- Experience managing employees within a customer service, administration or reception environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching and team-development capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence managing rosters, performance expectations and operational processes.
- Effective problem-solving, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Sound computer and administration skills.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong business judgement and the ability to make informed decisions.
- Business or management qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Experience within a multidisciplinary medical centre, including General Practice, Dental, Radiology or Treatment Room services, will be highly regarded.
