What does the job look like?
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety & Compliance Specialist to join our Retail business unit. In this site-based role, you will play a critical part in connecting safety and compliance across multiple operational sites, ensuring our people have the skills, support, and systems in place to perform their roles safely.
Reporting to the National Safety & Compliance Manager, you will partner closely with site leaders and frontline teams, delivering audits, leading incident investigations, and driving a strong safety-first culture across the business. Key areas:
Support transport and operational compliance, including Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management and load restraint
Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and internal standards
Lead incident investigations using ICAM methodology and identify root causes and preventative actions
Develop and implement safety systems, procedures, and risk management frameworks
Deliver training, coaching, and guidance to leaders and operational teams to strengthen safety culture
Analyse incident trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver safety programs and achieve compliance targets
Support the rollout of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) strategies across sites
Are you the one?
You are a hands-on safety professional with experience in transport who enjoys working closely with operational teams. You build strong relationships, influence positive safety behaviours, work autonomously, and are committed to driving a proactive safety culture. You will also demonstrate:
Experience in transport, with a strong understanding of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, and transport compliance frameworks
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (mandatory requirement)
Demonstrated experience in safety management systems, auditing, and incident investigation
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and the ability to apply legislative and regulatory requirements in an operational environment
Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and delivering safety training
Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
Ability to work autonomously and build strong working relationships across operational and corporate teams
