Assistant Venue Manager – RG McGees

RG McGees is looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Venue Manager to join our management team.
We're a busy, community-focused venue with a strong mix of food, beverage, gaming, live entertainment and events. We're looking for someone who understands hospitality, enjoys leading from the floor and knows that great venue management is about both the numbers and the people.
This isn't an office job. We want a hands-on manager who's comfortable jumping behind the bar, helping during a busy service, solving problems and supporting the team when it matters.
About the Role
Working closely with the Venue Manager, you'll help oversee the day-to-day operation of RG McGees while maintaining high standards across customer service, compliance, presentation and team performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supervising the team during daily operations
- Opening and closing the venue
- Maintaining excellent customer service standards
- Supporting and developing team members
- Managing busy bar, bistro, gaming and entertainment periods
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving complaints
- Cash handling, reconciliations and end-of-day procedures
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock control
- Ensuring the venue remains clean, safe and well presented
- Supporting functions, promotions and major events
- Maintaining RSA, RCG and responsible gambling standards
- Ensuring venue policies and procedures are followed
- Assisting with rostering and labour management
- Working with management to achieve venue sales and performance targets
About You
We're looking for someone who can lead without needing to throw their title around.
You'll be confident making decisions, communicating with staff and customers and keeping your cool when the venue is pumping.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality
- Strong food, beverage and/or gaming experience
- Current NSW RSA and RCG
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team
- Good understanding of venue compliance and responsible service
- Experience with cash handling and venue procedures
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities during busy periods
- Availability to work a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
Experience within a pub, hotel or club environment will be highly regarded.

Someone who notices when the team needs help, talks to our customers, takes ownership when something goes wrong and celebrates with the team when we smash a big service.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to help make the venue better, not simply maintain what's already there.
