A 73 bed private hospital co-located with Bowral and District Hospital, Southern Highlands Private Hospital provides an extensive range of onsite medical, surgical, rehabilitation, oncology and palliative care services for the community of the Southern Highlands and beyond to the regional and rural areas.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Learning and Development team. Working collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs) and Learning & Development team, you will deliver high-quality education, mentorship and professional development to support clinical excellence, competency and evidence-based practice across the perioperative department. This permanent part-time position.
Key responsibilities include:

Providing expert clinical guidance, mentorship and support to nursing staff across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.

Planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based education and professional development programs.

Identifying and addressing learning needs related to perioperative clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviours.

Supporting the ongoing maintenance of mandatory education, clinical competencies and compliance requirements within the theatre department.

Reviewing and developing policies and procedures in line with current guidelines, standards, and evidence-based practice.

Promoting a culture of continuous learning, clinical excellence, evidence-based practice and professional accountability.

Supporting students, graduates and early career clinicians within the perioperative setting and programs.

Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical education and patient outcomes.

Contributing to the implementation of change, innovation, and evidence-based practice improvements.

Supporting the orientation, onboarding and transition of new perioperative staff to ensure safe and effective clinical practice.

Collaborating with Nurse Unit Managers and multidisciplinary teams to identify education priorities and support workforce capability.

Supporting accreditation requirements, clinical governance activities and the achievement of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
About You:
Essential
-
Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
-
Minimum of three years’ recent clinical experience in a perioperative environment.

Demonstrated recent clinical experience across one or more perioperative specialties including Anaesthetics, Scrub/Scout or PACU.

Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.
-
Experience supporting accreditation activities and quality improvement initiatives.
-
Demonstrated ability to facilitate education and support adult learners.
-
Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
-
High level organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
-
Previous experience in a clinical facilitator, educator or leadership role.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or adult education qualifications.
-
Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or Clinical Education.
-
Completed Ramsay Preceptorship Program or equivalent.
