About Department
8 West is a 24 bed General Medical unit. 8 West upholds strong values of providing high quality care to our patients and excellent communication between all health professionals from all disciplines. All staff on 8 West are required to actively participate in their own professional development and self-directed learning in order to maintain high quality clinical skills and knowledge.
About the Role
The Health Assistant (Nursing), under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) or equivalent, will work as an assistant and support person to the Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to provide delegated aspects of patient care, most notably the direct observation and supervision of the at risk patient. Within this role, the elements of direct and non-direct patient care will be delegated in accordance with the professional judgement of the supervising Registered Nurse, and in accordance with the level of achieved educational preparation and assessed competence of each Health Assistant (Nursing).
Classifications for these roles will be IN38 - IN39 ($57,038.80 - $59,670.00) per annum, pro rata.
Duties

Ensure patient privacy and dignity is maintained at all times

Maintain a safe patient environment and report incidents promptly to supervising staff

Assist with making beds (not discharge and admission) and keeping the ward tidy

Assistance with personal hygiene, nutritional needs, and transfers and positioning within the ward, related to patient care

Observation and supervision of patients at risk
