Swimming Coach – Fixed-Term Contract Contract Period: November 2026 – April 2027 Employment Type: Fixed-term / seasonal contract Position: Swimming Coach Reports To: Head Coach / Swim Program Manager Position Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and experienced Swimming Coach to join our team for the 2026–27 summer swimming season. The Swimming Coach will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching sessions that develop swimmers’ technique, fitness, confidence and enjoyment of the sport. The successful candidate will create a positive, safe and supportive training environment while helping swimmers work towards their individual and squad goals. Key Responsibilities - Plan and deliver structured swimming sessions appropriate to the age, ability and goals of each squad. - Teach and develop correct technique across all four competitive strokes, including starts, turns, finishes and race skills. - Provide clear, constructive and encouraging feedback to swimmers. - Monitor swimmer development, attendance, effort and progression throughout the season. - Adapt sessions to accommodate different abilities and development needs. - Promote a positive squad culture based on effort, respect, teamwork and sportsmanship. - Prepare swimmers for appropriate carnivals, meets and competitions where required. - Attend competitions and provide race-day coaching where agreed as part of the role. - Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, fellow coaches and management. - Assist with squad organisation, lane management and equipment. - Maintain appropriate records where required. - Ensure all sessions are conducted in accordance with pool rules, workplace health and safety requirements, safeguarding requirements and relevant swimming policies. - Report any safety, behavioural or welfare concerns promptly to management. - Work collaboratively with other coaches to support the overall development of the swimming program. Qualifications & Experience The successful applicant should have: - A recognised swimming coaching qualification appropriate to the level being coached (or willing to gain with support). - Current CPR certification. - Current Working With Children Check or equivalent clearance as required. - Previous experience coaching swimmers in a squad or structured learn-to-train environment. - Sound knowledge of swimming technique, training principles and athlete development. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - The ability to motivate swimmers while maintaining clear expectations and professional boundaries. - A reliable, organised and professional approach to coaching. Desirable - Experience coaching competitive swimmers. - Experience attending and coaching at swimming carnivals or meets. - Knowledge of competition rules and race preparation. - Experience working with children and teenagers across different ability levels. - Additional aquatic, fitness, first aid or coaching qualifications. Hours & Availability The position will operate from November 2026 to April 2027. Coaching hours will be based on the seasonal squad timetable and may include early mornings, afternoons/evenings and selected weekends (approx 15hrs pw). Competition attendance, additional training sessions and other swimming program activities may also be required by prior agreement. Remuneration Remuneration will be negotiated based on qualifications, coaching experience, responsibilities and agreed hours. Contract Term This is a fixed-term seasonal position commencing October/November 2026 and concluding in April 2027, with exact commencement and completion dates to be confirmed in the employment agreement. Position can be ongoing each year. The successful applicant will be required to maintain all relevant qualifications, certifications and child-safety clearances for the duration of the contract.
Pay: $26.44 – $54.91 per hour
