Reception & Customer Service / Sales Support
About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, organised and capable person to join our team in a varied front-of-house role within a chemical manufacturing environment.
This position is much more than answering phones and greeting customers. You will be one of the first points of contact for our customers and will work across reception, customer service, retail sales, order support and product documentation. As you become familiar with the business, the role will also develop into creative and product-related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Reception & Customer Service
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a friendly and professional manner.
- Respond to customer emails and general enquiries.
- Assist customers with product, order and general business enquiries.
- Direct enquiries to the appropriate team member when required.
- Welcome customers and visitors to the business.
- Provide a high level of customer service across phone, email and face-to-face interactions.
Retail & Counter Sales
- Serve customers through the retail shopfront.
- Process over-the-counter sales and payments.
- Assist customers in selecting the appropriate products.
- Process customer orders and ensure orders are accurately entered.
- Prepare and organise customer orders for collection or delivery.
- Check order details and communicate any issues or changes with customers.
Orders & Deliveries
- Check customer orders and confirm product availability.
- Communicate expected delivery and collection times to customers.
- Liaise with the relevant internal teams regarding order progress.
- Follow up on orders where required.
- Assist with keeping customers informed of any changes to delivery or order timeframes.
Product Labels & Documentation
As you become more experienced in the role, you will take on additional responsibilities relating to product documentation and presentation, including:
- Editing and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Assisting with the creation and updating of SDS documentation.
- Creating, editing and updating product labels.
- Checking labels and product information for accuracy.
- Ensuring product information is presented clearly and consistently.
- Assisting with maintaining accurate product documentation and records.
Creative & Marketing Support
The role will also involve working on creative projects for the business, including:
- Creating and editing product labels and artwork.
- Assisting with product presentation and promotional materials.
- Making updates to existing creative files.
- Preparing artwork and documents for internal use or production.
- Working with the team to develop new product and packaging materials.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident speaking with customers.
- Well organised and able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day.
- Comfortable answering phones and responding to emails.
- Confident using computers and learning new software.
- Detail-oriented, particularly when working with product information and documentation.
- Able to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change.
- Willing to learn about our products and the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Interested in developing their skills across customer service, sales, administration and creative work.
The Right Person
The ideal person will be someone who enjoys having a varied role rather than doing the same task every day. You will need to be comfortable moving between answering a customer phone call, processing a retail sale, checking an order, working on a product label or updating documentation.
Previous experience in reception, customer service, retail, administration, graphic design or a similar role would be beneficial, but a willingness to learn and a strong attention to detail are just as important.

This is an opportunity to develop a broad range of skills within a growing chemical manufacturing business. The role offers the chance to build experience across:
- Customer service and reception
- Retail and sales
- Administration and order processing

The role can grow with the right person, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility as their knowledge of the business, products and systems develops.
