We are seeking an experienced and visionary educational leader to join our School Leadership Team as Head of Junior School. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Christian educator to lead and nurture the learning, wellbeing, and spiritual development of students from Early Stage 1 to Early Stage 2 while contributing significantly to the strategic leadership and culture of the School.
Pacific Hills Christian School is a co-educational K-12 Christian school with 1500 students, located in Dural, in the Hills District of Sydney. The School is part of the Pacific Group of ten Christian schools, with six of these schools located in regional NSW. The School emphasises excellence and growth in Christian character with its vision being 'to provide a Christian educational community as a centre of teaching, learning, and serving excellence founded on Biblically based beliefs, values, and behaviour'. Reporting to the Principal and serving as a member of the School Leadership Team, the Head of Junior School provides strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of the Junior School.
The successful applicant will oversee aspects of Junior School life, ensuring the effective implementation of the School's vision, policies, and educational goals while fostering a positive and thriving learning environment for students, staff, and families.
This is a permanent full time role, commencing Term 1, 2027, whilst an earlier start may be available via negotiation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the vision, culture and ongoing development of the Junior School
- Providing leadership and support to Junior School teaching staff, and Support and Operational staff
- Overseeing student wellbeing, pastoral care, and student leadership initiatives
- Driving excellence in teaching and learning practices
- Managing Junior School operations, enrolment processes, and class placements in conjunction with the Registrar
- Supporting curriculum leadership and staff professional development
- Contributing to school-wide strategic planning and policy development
- Working collaboratively with parents and the wider school community
- Supporting the oversight and integration of Out of School Hours (OOSH) programs
- Ensuring compliance with relevant child protection, WHS, and regulatory requirements
How To
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A personal Christian faith and active commitment to Christian education
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Education
- A minimum of five years teaching experience
- At least two years' experience in educational leadership
- A deep understanding of the principles and practices of Christian education
- Exemplary classroom teaching practice
- Strong leadership, organisational, and administrative capabilities
- Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures
- A heart for servant leadership and a passion for supporting students, staff, and families
