We're looking for a Junior Electronics Engineer to join our R&D team in Sydney. Working under the direct supervision of the R&D Manager, you'll support the research, design, development, testing, and validation of electronic systems and components for our medical and diagnostic device range.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the R&D Manager with research and development activities, including product prototyping, system integration, and design optimisation for medical and diagnostic applications
- Support the translation of product requirements into practical electronic design solutions under managerial guidance
- Design, develop, debug, test and validate, as directed by the R&D Manager on a project-to-project basis:
- Electronic circuits, schematic diagrams, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer, EasyEDA, and other EDA tools
- USB communication systems, embedded electronic hardware, and high-speed data interfaces
- Power management and battery-powered electronic systems, including Battery Management Systems (BMS) and charging circuits
- Embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems supporting hardware control, communication interfaces, and data acquisition
- Execute electrical/electronic test procedures to verify system functionality and performance against engineering requirements
- Conduct hardware verification, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analysers, under managerial oversight
- Support EMC pre-compliance activities, including PCB design modifications and technical documentation, under R&D oversight
- Assist in prototype assembly, system integration, and testing of medical devices and associated electronic subsystems
- Investigate hardware and firmware failures and implement corrective actions to improve product reliability
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications, test reports, validation records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering change documentation
- Ensure compliance with standard procedures outlined in the quality management system and intellectual property policies
Skills & Experience
Software / Design Tools
- Exposure to Altium Designer, EasyEDA, or similar EDA/PCB design software
- Familiarity with C/C++ for embedded/microcontroller firmware development
- Comfortable with engineering documentation (BOM management, revision control, test report writing)
Hardware / Technical
- Foundational understanding of analog/digital electronic circuit design and PCB layout
- Exposure to USB communication protocols or other high-speed digital interfaces (desirable)
- Basic understanding of power management circuits, battery systems, or BMS/charging circuit principles (desirable)
- Ability to use, or willingness to quickly learn, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analysers for test and fault-finding
Qualifications
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
