As a Medical Receptionist at Medispring Family Medical Centre (MFMC), you will provide professional, welcoming and efficient administrative support to patients, doctors and the wider practice team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Greeting patients and visitors professionally and assisting with enquiries.
- Answering telephone calls, managing emails and directing enquiries appropriately.
- Scheduling, confirming, changing and cancelling appointments using Best Practice.
- Accurately registering new patients and maintaining current demographic, Medicare and contact information.
- Processing Medicare claims, bulk-billing consent, private fees and electronic payments.
- Scanning, importing and correctly allocating referrals, reports, correspondence and other clinical documents.
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including secure messaging, fax and mail.
- Following practice procedures for recalls, results, referrals, medical records and requests for patient information.
- Maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality and information security at all times.
- Communicating effectively with doctors, nurses, pathology providers, specialists, hospitals and other healthcare organisations.
- Supporting workplace medical and pre-employment bookings, paperwork and invoicing where required.
- Maintaining an organised reception area and completing opening, closing and daily administrative duties.
- Managing difficult or distressed patients calmly, respectfully and professionally, and escalating clinical or safety concerns promptly.
- Participating in staff meetings, training, accreditation activities and continuous quality improvement.
- Following MFMC policies, procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and lawful directions from the Practice Manager.
- Undertaking other reasonable reception and administrative duties as required.
The successful applicant must be reliable, punctual, organised and able to work effectively in a busy medical environment. Strong communication, customer service, computer and attention-to-detail skills are essential. Previous medical reception experience and familiarity with Best Practice software are highly desirable but not necessary. Training provided on the job.
Pay: From $27.00 per hour
