The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Youth Justice Administration Officer to provide a critical role within Youth Justice.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime.
Children and young people involved in Youth Justice are either supervised in the community, by community youth justice workers located at Justice Service Centres across seven regions in Victoria or within custodial precincts. Community Youth Justice delivers community-based supervision, case management, and support for young people on Youth Justice orders from the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court, and adult courts. Our programs address offending behaviour, build life skills, and link young people to services that promote accountability and rehabilitation.
About the Role
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide high level, executive, administrative and confidential support to the General Manager, and to the Regions Youth Justice teams as required, using an understanding of community and regional issues to determine priorities.
- Manage communications for the General Manager in a timely and efficient manner, responding and taking follow up actions as required and ensuring that the region is represented in a professional and considerate manner.
- Effectively manage the General Manager's diary, including arranging meetings, forums, coordinating papers, organising venues, catering, preparing agendas and taking minutes as required.
The Youth Justice program in South Metro Region has staff located in the Dandenong and Frankston offices. This position has responsibilities across both offices, and some travel will be required.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of executive, administrative and confidential support to the General Manager, and to Youth Justice teams as required, using an understanding of community and regional issues to determine priorities.
- Understanding of the Department of Justice and Regulation's regional model and awareness of community and regional issues is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain appropriate relationships with a diverse regional team.
