The Retail Manager is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operation of the MOLLY TEA Burwood store. The position is responsible for ensuring efficient store operations, strong sales performance, effective inventory and cost control, appropriate staffing levels, consistent product and service standards, and a high level of customer satisfaction.
The Retail Manager will coordinate all key aspects of store operations, including sales monitoring, stock management, purchasing, supplier coordination, staff recruitment and supervision, rostering, customer service, promotional activities, financial controls, food safety, workplace safety and operational reporting.
The position requires strong retail management skills and a sound understanding of the operational requirements of a high-volume tea and beverage retail business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Managing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the retail store, including opening and closing procedures, staff allocation, customer service flow, order fulfilment, store presentation, cleanliness and overall operational efficiency to ensure the store operates smoothly throughout all trading periods.
· Determining the appropriate product mix, stock levels and customer service standards by reviewing sales performance, customer demand, seasonal trends and product popularity, and ensuring suitable quantities of tea products, milk, toppings, syrups, fresh ingredients, packaging materials and other consumables are available to support daily operations.
· Formulating and implementing purchasing and inventory control procedures, including determining order quantities, monitoring stock usage, conducting regular stock counts, reviewing product shelf life and minimising shortages, over-ordering, wastage and stock losses.
· Managing supplier relationships and purchasing activities by liaising with approved suppliers regarding pricing, product availability, delivery schedules, order quantities and product quality, and resolving issues relating to delayed deliveries, shortages, damaged goods or inconsistent product quality.
· Reviewing product costs, market conditions and sales performance to support pricing and promotional decisions, including assessing the profitability of products, seasonal offerings and promotional items and making recommendations regarding product pricing, discounts and special offers.
· Planning, coordinating and implementing marketing and promotional activities to increase store visibility, customer traffic and sales, including seasonal promotions, new product launches, in-store promotions, customer offers and other local marketing initiatives relevant to the Burwood retail market.
· Promoting and selling the store's products and maintaining high customer service standards, including ensuring customers receive accurate product information, appropriate recommendations, efficient service and professional assistance, and managing customer enquiries, complaints and feedback where required.
· Maintaining accurate records of stock levels, purchasing, sales and financial transactions, including monitoring point-of-sale records, daily sales results, cash and electronic payment transactions, refunds, discounts, stock movements, wastage and other operational records, and investigating discrepancies when identified.
· Preparing and monitoring store budgets and operating costs, including labour expenses, purchasing costs, stock expenditure, wastage and other operating expenses, and implementing appropriate measures to improve cost control, productivity and overall store profitability.
· Managing the recruitment, selection, training, rostering and supervision of staff, including determining staffing requirements, preparing work schedules, allocating duties, providing training in customer service, product knowledge, beverage preparation standards and store procedures, and monitoring employee performance, attendance and productivity.
· Establishing and maintaining product quality, service and operational standards, including ensuring beverages and other products are prepared, presented and supplied consistently in accordance with approved recipes, portion requirements, product specifications, hygiene procedures and customer service expectations.
· Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety, food safety and workplace requirements, including monitoring safe work practices, identifying operational hazards, ensuring appropriate storage and handling of ingredients, maintaining cleaning and hygiene standards, overseeing the safe use of store equipment and implementing corrective action where required.
Skills and Experience:
· Strong retail store management and operational management skills.
· Experience in supervising and managing retail employees.
· Strong knowledge of inventory management, stock control and purchasing procedures.
· Ability to analyse sales performance, costs and store operating results.
· Strong customer service and complaint resolution skills.
· Experience in staff rostering, training and performance management.
· Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
· Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage a high-volume retail environment and respond effectively to changing operational requirements.
· Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the overall performance of the store.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
