About the role
NEPEAN Conveyors is currently seeking a motivated Trainee Draftsperson to join our team in Slade Point, Mackay. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, build technical drafting capability, and develop a long-term career within a leading Australian engineering and manufacturing business.
Reporting to the Drafting Manager, you will receive mentorship and training from experienced drafting professionals as you learn to produce, revise and manage 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Inventor models. You will be supported to develop the skills required to create detailed conveyor components and systems for the mining and materials handling sector.
What you’ll be doing-
Learning to open, modify and revise existing drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor.

Assisting with drawing packages, PDF drawing sets and drawing register maintenance.

Checking drawings and completing back-drafting as required.

Learning to detail from 3D Inventor models into 2D fabrication drawings.

Creating 3D Inventor models under guidance.

Building an understanding of conveyor equipment, particularly underground coal conveyor systems.

Following NEPEAN Conveyors’ safety standards, systems and policies.
About you-
You may be a recent Year 12 school leaver, a university student or graduate, or someone with trade-related experience who is ready to build a career in drafting.

Above all you will have a genuine desire to learn Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor and are interested in working with SolidWorks or other modelling software.

You show strong attention to detail and take pride in accurate work.

You are organised, willing to learn and able to manage your time effectively.

You communicate clearly and work well with others.

You are safety focused and willing to follow company processes and procedures.
