About SITS College
SITS College is seeking an experienced and motivated Carpentry Trainer & Assessor to deliver high-quality vocational education and training to students undertaking the Certificate III in Carpentry.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced carpenter who is passionate about sharing industry knowledge, developing the next generation of tradespeople, and working within a professional and supportive training environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging theoretical and practical training in Certificate III in Carpentry.
- Conduct competency-based assessments in accordance with training package and RTO requirements.
- Provide practical demonstrations and supervise students in workshop and training environments.
- Support students to develop job-ready carpentry skills and industry knowledge.
- Prepare and maintain training and assessment records accurately and on time.
- Provide constructive feedback and additional support to students where required.
- Participate in assessment validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of carpentry industry practices, building standards and workplace safety requirements.
- Ensure training and assessment practices comply with SITS College policies and applicable VET regulatory requirements.
Essential Requirements
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- Certificate III in Carpentry or a relevant/equivalent trade qualification.
- Strong practical carpentry experience and current industry knowledge.
- A current Trainer and Assessor qualification that meets applicable RTO requirements, such as TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or an accepted equivalent.
- Relevant and current vocational competency in the areas being delivered and assessed.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and support students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate training and assessment records.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety and quality vocational education.
Highly Regarded
- Previous experience delivering Certificate III in Carpentry within an RTO.
- Experience conducting practical competency assessments.
- Experience working with international and/or domestic VET students.
- Knowledge of RTO compliance, validation and assessment requirements.
- Current construction industry White Card.
- Additional building, construction or supervisory qualifications.
