Global GreenTag International is seeking an experienced Team Lead (Senior Environmental Engineer) to lead our growing Product Assessment Team based in Brisbane City.
This senior technical leadership role is ideal for an experienced environmental engineer or sustainability professional with Product Ecolabelling & Certification experience, deep expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), environmental certification, technical auditing, environmental standards, and project leadership. The successful candidate will also act as a delegate to the Program Director, supporting strategic program delivery, technical governance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Program Director, the Team Lead (Senior Environmental Engineer) will provide technical leadership, operational management and mentoring for the Product Assessment Team while managing a portfolio of complex certification and Environmental Product Declaration projects.
The role combines environmental engineering, technical assessment, project management, quality assurance, client engagement and strategic program development. The successful candidate will act as a delegate to the Program Director where required, supporting operational decision-making, technical governance, continuous improvement and organisational growth.
This position plays a key role in ensuring technical excellence, maintaining accreditation requirements, improving operational efficiency and supporting the ongoing expansion of Global GreenTag's certification programs both nationally and internationally.
Team Lead Key Responsibilities
- Support the Program Director in managing operational priorities, resource allocation and project delivery.
- Act as the Program Director's delegate during periods of absence or where delegated authority applies.
- Ensure technical consistency, quality assurance and compliance across all certification programs and environmental assessments.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across assessment processes, quality management systems and technical documentation.
- Coordinate technical reviews and verification activities across multiple certification schemes.
- Provide technical support to business development, proposal preparation and strategic client engagement.
- Contribute to new certification program development, standards interpretation and innovation initiatives.
- Represent Global GreenTag at technical committees, conferences, industry forums and stakeholder meetings where required.
- Assist with accreditation audits, surveillance activities and external quality reviews.
As Senior Environmental Engineer/Consultant:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Environmental Engineer/Environmental Consultant will be responsible for providing technical leadership, environmental assessments, sustainability advisory services, and engineering solutions across a diverse range of projects, including building products, manufacturing processes, life cycle assessments, and environmental certification programs compliance with standards like GBCA, VCA, IS, EarthCheck and GGTI, and as follows:
· Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments of manufacturing processes, production systems, and supply chains to identify environmental risks, improvement opportunities, and sustainability performance outcomes;
· Perform technical reviews and audits of manufacturing facilities, including assessment of raw material sourcing, production processes, energy consumption, emissions, waste management practices, chemical management procedures, and environmental control measures;
· Evaluate air, water, waste and chemical-related environmental impacts associated with industrial manufacturing processes, including assessment of emission sources, wastewater management, hazardous substances, and pollution prevention practices;
· Analyse manufacturing process inputs and outputs, including raw materials, additives, chemicals, energy consumption, waste streams, and emissions data to support environmental performance assessments;
· Apply life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies in accordance with relevant international standards, including Life Cycle Assessment principles under International Organization for Standardization standards such as ISO 14040 and ISO 14044;
· Develop, review, and verify Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in accordance with applicable standards including ISO 14025, ISO 21930, EN 15804, and relevant Product Category Rules (PCRs);
· Perform cradle-to-gate (A1–A3) greenhouse gas emissions assessments, including evaluation of raw material extraction, transportation, manufacturing energy use, production losses, waste generation, and associated carbon impacts;
· Conduct Global Warming Potential (GWP) calculations and carbon footprint assessments for construction materials and building products, including interpretation of environmental impact indicators;
Key Technical Competencies:
The position requires demonstrated capability in:
- Environmental engineering principles, pollution prevention and resource conservation practices;
- Industrial manufacturing processes and environmental risk assessment;
- Air emission, water management, waste management, and chemical impact evaluation;
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint methodologies;
- Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) & PCR Development;
- Greenhouse gas accounting and GWP assessment;
- Sustainability reporting and environmental certification frameworks;
- Best Environmental Practice PVC and Vinyl Council of Australia standard.
Prerequisites for the Role:
- Masters's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree highly regarded).
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Global GreenTag Product Asessor and qualified Lead Auditor in environmental engineering, Life Cycle Assessment, sustainability certification or related technical industries projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, mentoring staff and managing multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong understanding of Life Cycle Assessment (ISO 14040/14044), Environmental Product Declarations (ISO 14025, EN 15804, ISO 21930) and sustainability reporting.
- Experience interpreting international environmental standards, certification schemes and auditing frameworks.
- Experience working with quality management systems and continual improvement processes.
- Ability to interpret complex environmental data and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Experience with environmental software and databases such as OpenLCA, SimaPro, EPD tools or equivalent (desirable).
- Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Ability to prioritise competing deadlines within a fast-paced technical environment.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
