Step into a rewarding critical care nursing role with one of Australia's dedicated veterinary ICU teams. Pet ICU Underwood is looking for an experienced Part-Time Core Pet ICU Nurse to support the delivery of exceptional care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
This is an opportunity to work with advanced critical care cases while working alongside experienced ECC veterinarians and nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to ICU and emergency patients
- Monitor complex cases and provide ongoing patient assessment
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital protocols
- Care for critically unwell patients and perform or assist with advanced nursing procedures, including but not limited to:
- Transfusion medicine
- High-flow nasal oxygen therapy
- Feeding tube placement and management
- Advanced vascular and arterial access and management
- Advanced airway care
- Mechanical ventilation
- Advanced cardiopulmonary care
- Communicate effectively with clients and the veterinary team
- Provide strong clinical leadership during shifts, supporting and mentoring junior nurses while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment
- Champion exceptional patient care through teamwork, communication and adherence to ICU best practices
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and infection control
What We're Looking For
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
- Minimum 2 years' experience in ICU, ECC or a similar critical care environment
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a busy clinical setting
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Strong leadership skills with a team-first approach and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes
- ECC qualifications, Elevate ECC participation, or additional critical care training will be highly regarded but are not essential
The Roster
- Part-time position with 40 hours per fortnight, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts
- 14 shifts across a 4-week roster with rotating starts at 5:00am, 1:00pm and 9:00pm
- Includes weekends and public holidays
