The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer / Transition Manager to join a Defence maritime program team in Cairns. This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer to lead the transition of capability from acquisition into sustainment, working across engineering, project management, logistics and commercial disciplines.
You’ll act as a key point of contact between internal and external stakeholders, exercising delegated technical authority while supporting introduction-into-service milestones for a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the transition of capability from acquisition projects into sustainment
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, chairing and participating in project meetings
- Prepare and contribute to project reports, plans and technical documentation
- Participate in technical inspections and test activities, reviewing outcomes and making recommendations
- Exercise technical authority within allocated delegation, supporting design acceptance activities
Required
- Current NV1 security clearance
- Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Mechanical), with Chartered Professional Engineer status or ability to obtain within 3 months
- Familiarity with introduction into service of Defence capabilities and Fundamental Inputs to Capability
- Experience with ASDEFCON-driven acquisitions, including technical/engineering and ILS elements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a preference for candidates based in Cairns
