About the Role:
The Team Coordinator, Emergency Department Mental Health position is a permanent, part-time position at 0.4 EFT/30.4 hours per fortnight within RCH Mental Health and based in the RCH Emergency Department. It is a shared position with a co-coordinator (0.4 EFT) currently working in the role.
You will be responsible for operational oversight and leadership of the Emergency Mental Health (EMH) team and will provide direct line management to clinicians on the team. The EMH team consult to the Emergency Department (ED) around the management and disposition of patients presenting to the ED. The role will also include the direct delivery of mental health care in the Emergency Department to children and young people.
Classification for this position will range from:
Occupational Therapist Grade 5 Year 1 – Year 4 (AJ11-AJ14)
Social Worker Grade 5 Year 1 – Year 4 (AJ57-AJ60)
Speech Pathologist Grade 5 Year 1 – Year 4 (AJ20-AJ23)
Psychologist Grade 4 Year 1 – Year 5 (PM1-PM5)
Registered Psychiatric Nursing Grade 5 (NP51)
What You’ll Achieve:
Lead an integrated multi-disciplinary team, ensuring integrated and effective patient care
Provide high quality mental health care for children and young people in the Emergency Department
Provide high quality operational supervision for mental health clinicians based in the Emergency Department
Establish effective collaboration and liaison with the RCH Emergency Department, the Banksia Adolescent Inpatient Unit, Parkville Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing Service and other specialist mental health providers in the community
Your Skills and Experience:
Tertiary Qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline
Current Registration as an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Registered Nurse with the applicable Health Practitioner Board, or a qualified Social Worker or Speech Pathologist. For Psychologists, this includes endorsement in clinical psychology
Eligibility for Membership in Victoria with the appropriate Professional Body
Experience supervising staff and students

About the Department:
The Emergency Mental Health team is part of RCH Mental Health, a community- and hospital-based service providing recovery focussed interventions for infants, children and adolescents experiencing mental health difficulties. It is one of a statewide network of Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (ICY AMHWS). The community arm of the service works with young people up to 12 years of age, while hospital-based services can work with hospital patients up to 18 yrs.
