Lead and manage gardening teams and reactive works
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading multiple gardening teams delivering scheduled maintenance and reactive works across the City of Port Phillip municipality. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, responding to reactive and urgent works, and ensuring all services are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual requirements, while maintaining exceptional presentation and service standards.
Responsibilities include:

Supervise and coordinate multiple gardening teams to ensure efficient, safe and high-quality service delivery.

Plan, schedule and monitor daily gardening maintenance programs and reactive works across the municipality.

Coordinate and respond to reactive, urgent and unplanned works, ensuring requests are actioned within required timeframes.

Ensure all gardening and reactive works are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and client expectations.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, providing regular updates on scheduled and reactive works.

Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering operational performance, service delivery, safety and stakeholder updates.

Lead, mentor and develop Team Leaders and field staff through regular coaching, performance reviews and ongoing support.

Promote and implement safe work practices, fostering a strong safety-first culture across all gardening operations.

Conduct regular WHS inspections, identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Proactively raise workplace health and safety matters with the Operations Manager and WHS Advisor.

Participate in toolbox meetings and drive continuous improvement across gardening and reactive service delivery
About You

Certificate IV or Diploma in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens or a related discipline is highly desirable

Demonstrated experience supervising multiple operational teams within open space maintenance or similar service-based contracts.

Strong understanding of native vegetation management, playground maintenance, infrastructure maintenance and open space operations.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop high-performing teams.

Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
-
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and continuous improvement.

Valid National Police Check or willingness to obtain.
-
Valid White Card.
-
Valid Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain.

Valid Driver's Licence.
