We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Field Representative to join our Raw Procurement team in a newly created role, reflecting the continued growth and increasing demands of our potato growing operations across Tasmania's Midlands region.
Reporting to the Raw Procurement Manager - Potato ANZ, you will play a critical role in building strong partnerships with our growers and ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality potatoes to support our manufacturing operations.
Covering a territory across Tasmania's Midlands region, from Launceston to Oatlands and Bothwell, this highly autonomous role combines field-based relationship management, crop monitoring, harvest coordination and strategic planning.
Spending the majority of your time in the field, you will work closely with growers throughout the entire growing cycle, from contracting and planting through to harvest and storage. You will provide agronomic support, monitor crop performance, coordinate harvest schedules and contribute valuable insights on crop quality, yield forecasting and supply planning.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, building long-term relationships and making a tangible impact within a leading agribusiness. As a newly established position, you will have the opportunity to shape your territory, influence grower outcomes and contribute to the ongoing success of Simplot's agricultural supply chain, while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team.
-
Build strong relationships with growers, acting as the primary Simplot contact throughout the contracting, growing, harvest and storage cycle.
-
Monitor crop performance, quality and yield through regular field inspections, providing accurate forecasts and insights to support business planning.
-
Coordinate planting, harvest, storage and delivery activities to ensure a reliable supply of potatoes for our manufacturing operations.
-
Provide agronomic support and guidance to growers, helping optimise crop outcomes through best practice irrigation, nutrition, pest and disease management.
-
Negotiate and manage grower contracts, maintain crop records and ensure compliance with contractual and operational requirements.
-
Collaborate with growers, transport providers, research partners and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, innovation and future production opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you will bring a passion for agriculture, strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work independently across a geographically diverse territory.
You will also have:
-
Experience in agriculture, agronomy, crop production, field services or a related industry.
-
The ability to build credibility and maintain strong relationships with growers and key stakeholders.
-
Sound knowledge of agricultural production systems and crop management practices, with potato industry experience highly regarded.
-
Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
-
Confidence using technology and data to support decision making, including Microsoft Office and field-based reporting systems.
-
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, coupled with a proactive, self-motivated approach.
-
A tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Plant Science or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
Applications close Friday 11th September. Simplot reserves the right to commence recruiting activity prior to closing date.
